Last modified: January 12, 2011Long Beach Cyclists became a legally recognized California nonprofit organization in 2009.
As a community of cyclists, road users and responsible citizens, we have strived to be an effective cycling advocate. Also, certified members of our organization have offered educational programs and messages in ongoing attempts to reach more road users. We have led many dozens of fun events and activities.
Long Beach Cyclists has no paid staff. All of us are volunteers.
Naturally, there are costs to setting up and running Long Beach Cyclists as a California nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation. We appreciate the support of all individuals who, for example, tipped a dollar when we ran free bike valet service earlier in the year, and we are grateful for all who joined as one-year members. And, no question, we are especially grateful for the two dozen or so generous individuals who pitched in for free to assist with administrative tasks, or who volunteered at our various fun or educational events.
Long Beach Cyclists has always been just us—ordinary citizens striving to help make the cycling lifestyle a reality in our own lives, and striving, too, to help make the City of Long Beach a nicer place to live.
