FMR—Farmers Market Ride, Sunday May 9th

Thousands of residents in the Long Beach area are asking the essential question: Is the front wheel of the FMR bicycle made of lettuce, or is it made of cabbage?

Find out Sunday, May 9th. Join us for the easy-going FMR ride, which takes place every second and fourth Sunday. Click on the postage stamp below right for details about the ride.

It is likely that the organizer of FMR will not willingly disclose whether his wheel is made of lettuce or cabbage. Further, he will probably not tell us whether or not he stores his bicycle in the refrigerator at night.

To find the answers to these and other pressing matters, we may need to poke him in the ribs with a stalk of celery. Don’t miss the fun.

This is award-winning writing here. I have no idea what awards are out there for cycling-related blogging, but if I HAD an idea, I’d nominate this writing for one of them.

    Dear Long Beach Cyclists,
Is there a universal adapter for my bicycle pump that will allow me to properly inflate tires, regardless of vegetable?

    Desperate Farmer McBike,

A tomato wheel that runs soft is probably beyond ripe. We recommend that you hurry up and make a salad. Aren’t farmers supposed to know that kind of stuff already?

Regarding tire pumps and fittings, we will consult with Lee. We believe that he is the LBC member who best seems to understand the delicate balance between optimal pounds per square inch pressure and cycling comfort. It stands to reason that tires of each vegetable and fruit type have their own riding characteristics. Lee may also know something about the universal fitting you ask about.

Lee, please help. Signed, your friends at Long Beach Cyclists Headquarters.
