Local businesses may wish to have a presence at one of the three Bike-to-Work Day pit stops. Several weeks from now, Thursday morning, May 20th, there will be cyclist pit stops in three locations around town. One pit stop will be set up near City Hall, another pit stop will be located near Jones Bicycles on Second Street, and another pit stop will be set up at CSULB.
Volunteers from Long Beach Cyclists will be at the pit stop on Second Street.
At the tables, we like to have water and other goodies for sharing, and we love to chat with everyone. If you would like to be a pit stop volunteer, or if your business might have something you’d like to donate for handing out at one of the pit stops, let Long Beach Cyclists know. lbcyclists@gmail.com.
During the entire month of May, everyone in Long Beach is encouraged to cycle for healthy living and fun. The May calendar is sprinkled with cycling-related activities of many types. Make sure YOUR bike has air in the tires and its brakes are adjusted. This month, LOTS of people will be out on the streets of Long Beach enjoying a bike ride. Join us!

It’s going to be a lot of fun.
And hey, you mention getting brakes adjusted– my understanding is that our stop outside Jones will be featuring a bike mechanic to do all sorts of minor adjustments… people should definitely NOT wait till then, but procrastinators can get help en route to work if they bike there via 2nd St, right?
My bell sounds slightly off pitch, to my ear. I think I need a piano tuner, not a bike mechanic. I heard talk about a bike mechanic, but have heard nothing yet about piano tuners.
Our greatest pleasure will be to see many kinds of people coming out to participate in the many types of cycling activities taking place throughout the month. Lee, you’re right, who can wait until Thursday morning, May 20th to see about squeaks and rattles and blips and loose whatevers?!!!
The volunteer base of Long Beach Cyclists is making preparations for bike valets and other activities coming up, including the running of our May 20th pit stop on Second Street. Some of us will probably hope to stop at all three pit stops, because each one will offer its own special somethings.
No piano tuners at any of the three pit stops that we know of. Perhaps a business sponsor will donate a piano… although, honestly, we don’t think pianos are quite the right kind of giveaway for a Bike-to-Work Day event.
Having said that, we will not be surprised if some folks cycling around Long Beach on cargo bikes tell us that they are capable of hauling off a piano.
Let’s leave it at this for the moment: Folks who show up at the Long Beach Cyclists pit stop on Second Street will be glad they did!
