I rode on this ride, and YES, it was insanely fun. YES, I hope we plan other rides of this type in the months ahead. Nighttime cycling under a full moon! Fog near the coast, with its magical, limited visibility! North along the San Gabriel River trail. Calls of river birds in the darkness! Clear skies as we cycle inland. Great conversations while the world sleeps. Almost nobody out there, so you can cycle as fast as you wish or find a comfy pace... it's all good. A dam in the Whittier Narrows area... temperatures drop there somewhat. Cycle to keep the body warm. Then west or southwest... finally a merge south along the L.A. River. Fog again, limited visibility, a delightful halo of red tail lights. Underpasses in which you speed along... this seems dreamlike and makes me very happy. Finally, laughter at Denny's in downtown Long Beach just as the Blue Line is making its first run for the morning. Still dark out. Wow!
