From a recent edition of LAWeekly:

What are your thoughts on bicycle licenses?
Did you even know they were required in Long Beach?

big deal. it’s $2 and takes 2 minutes to do. get over it. my hopes are that they use the statistics to see just how many people are riding bikes and improve the bike usability of the cities.
@tim in Long Beach not a big deal you should be able to get your license at any Fire Station, but apparently in LA Bike licenses are only available on certain days, and at certain police stations(if they haven’t run out from the sudden enforcement of the license law). That’s what the big deal is I guess, check out the various news stories on the issue kind of sad.
I haven’t licensed my bike but if it helps prevent any problems if I get pulled over then I probably should. The only way it would help with ‘stolen bikes’ is if it is recovered, and what are the chances of that? Either someone else is riding it or it could be stripped for parts.
Is Bikestation still issuing these? If so, when?
Thanks,
Scott
